New Version of Bling Tweets Available to Download

It’s been a while since we released the first version of Bling Tweets. During this time, Twitter made multiple new releases of their own, for e.g. new Retweet feature, Lists etc. The new release of Bling Tweets (ver 0.9.5) incorporates most of the latest changes in Twitter API. Notable new improvements and features in the latest release include:

  1. Better Performance – Actually I should say, Much Better Performance, the previous app was memory intensive and there was some leakage also. This would often result in crashes of the app. In this release, we have changed our memory management implementation and this changed the performance drastically. You will find that the app is more responsive and stable now.
  2. Retweets (RT) Implementation – This is one of the major additions in this release. We now support the Twitter way of Retweets and our previous implementation where you can edit the Tweet before you post the same. For all tweets shared using Twitter way (Retweet button as shown below), the tweets will not show in your timeline but these will be available to your followers. You can still use the old method of Retweet and edit a tweet as you like.
    Retweets Functionality
Any tweet Retweeted by people you follow, will appear with the green colored RT icon as shown below. You will be able to see the avatar of the original sender and when you hover over the green colored RT icon, you will be able to see the name of the person who Retweeted.
    Retweets Functionality
  3. Lists – Bling Tweets supports the complete Lists functionality including ways to create (or delete) your own, add users to these Lists by searching or adding from your followers list, show tweets for a selected list. When you click on the Lists in the top menu, you get to see the following view. The view shows all the lists following you, lists you are following and your own created lists. Below each List name, you get to know the number of people in the list and people following that particular list. You can also create new lists using this view. When you click the List name you will be able to read all the Tweets in that particular list.
    Lists
You can edit any list, modify name/description, add/delete members using the Edit List option. You can also add members to any list from the Followers or Following Panel as shown below.
    Lists
  4. Trends – We have added a new Trends menu option. At any given point of time you will be able to see all the current Trends.

And ofcourse there have been numerous bug fixes and improvements. We hope these changes and new feature additions will ensure you have the best experience using Bling Tweets. Happy Tweeting !!

  1. Hello,
Gr8 app n hope that it gets popular real soon.
    1 suggestion though,
Consider a scenario where a user wants to log-out the app and wants to log-in again but with a different account. Currently the user has to close the application and then restart it with punching in the new account details, it would really be gr8 if the user gets a log-out/log-in option within the app. Closing the application and relaunching it just to log-in with different credentials is kind of overhead.
My 2 cents on the app :).

  2. 1 More, plz dont mind.
Can we have a "feedback link" or a feedback form to get the users' feedback incorporated in the application itself?

  3. Nikhil - Thanks for your feedback. We will definitely consider these feedbacks in our next version. For Feedback we will have a different site but link can be provided from the App.

  4. I like your new version, but there is one very serious issue with it which frustrates me a lot! Sometimes when I'm trying to post a tweet, the Bling Tweet will refresh itself, and everything I've written to that point gets blown away, as Bling Tweet sends me to the beginning of my timeline. This is a very serious issue and needs to be fixed ASAP!!!

  6. I second what ROD said. It seriously is painful to write the tweet again. :(

  7. The new release fixes the issue with automatic refreshes. Now onwards, it shows a non-obtrusive message about the new tweets and when you click a link, it will show the new tweets. We will be releasing the new build in 2 weeks time, bear with us till that time.
